II. Roll Call: Formal roll call was not taken, a sign in sheet was passed around. Approval of a Flexible Agenda: Motion: Megan Kaid Second: Tracey Lewis VI. Officer Reports: President Welcome to SNA!! The Board of Directors introduced themselves by name, class, and committee. The description of SNA as a pre-professional organization was read to all in attendance, along with an overview of the benefits and responsibilities of being a delegate. This included a discussion of the goal to achieve the Leadership U Award at graduation, and the criteria for earning this award The president asked the members in attendance to voice why they appreciate being involved in SNA and what they have gained from their experience. Most common responses were the opportunity to volunteer, networking, and appreciation received from the community. Discussed the goal of holding one professional development event/activity per month Announcement was made that the Stomp Out Stigma Walk will be Saturday, May 22 at 8:30am in the Pew Campus courtyard. All those interested could see Megan after the meeting or go to  HYPERLINK "http://www.themhf.org" www.themhf.org under team name GVSU Student Nurses in order to sign up. Stomp Circles were also passed around to the members for purchase of $1 or any higher donation Vice President C. Secretary D. Community Wellness -a. An announcement was made regarding whether the online forms were effective for LIC point turn in. The assembly agreed that turning in the forms online, rather than in person worked more efficiently b. Community Wellness Director discussed with 315 members in attendance their delegate responsibilities as well as how LIC points work. c. Announcement was made that the main overarching goal of LIC points is Leadership. Assembly was asked to get into groups by class to brainstorm ideas for one SNA community project focus. Ideas that were raised included areas in: Haiti relief, child hunger, child obesity, making lunches or field day events for children, hunger among the homeless, at-risk youth, flooding relief in Tennessee, domestic violence, and unemployment . Treasurer a.Announcement was made regarding the idea of renting graduation cords for 10.00. The treasurer wanted to raise awareness to those who would be graduating in the near future so that the process could go more smoothly. b. Though our funds are stable, an announcement was made stating the possibility of any and all fundraising ideas in order to raise funds for the organization. F. Membership Director a. Announcement was made to assembly that if there were any suggestions on speakers to have at general meetings, to contact Membership Director. G. BTN Director a. SHAPE Camp will be held for middle school boys and girls in order to raise awareness of carrers in the health field including nursing. Dates for the camps are July 12-15 and July 19-22, each day 9a-4p. Look for emails in order to volunteer of contact BTN director if interested. H. Website Coordinator VII. Additional Announcements Ron Perkins made an announcement regarding our involvement In the SHAPE camps. Both Wednesdays of the camp 1p-3p, we could use SNA help. In addition there will be some availability for volunteer help on the two Thursdays with the simulations. President made an announcement regarding the idea of having members co-chair a committee, and possibly even run the community project committee. Made an announcement for classes close to graduation to think about what company they want to go with for NCLEX review. The two companies available would be Hurst or Kaplan. There are plans for both companies to come and speak to our general assembly regarding why we should choose one over the other. Members were instructed to send a brief essay to the board members via email if they were interested in becoming a delegate and their class had more than 9 individuals sign up. Announcement was made that delegate folders would be passed out at the next general meeting on May 24, 2010. VII.
